2205 has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.

The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is twice that of austenitic stainless steel. This property allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, making this alloy more affordable than 316,317L.This alloy is particularly suitable for use in the -50°F/+600°F temperature range.Applications beyond this temperature range may also consider this alloy, but there are some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures.

2205 duplex stainless steel has twice the compressive strength compared to austenitic stainless steel, and the designer can reduce its weight compared to 316L and 317L.The 2205 alloy is particularly suitable for use in the — 50°F/+600°F temperature range and even lower temperatures under tight restrictions (especially for welded structures).
