316 has largely replaced traditional austenitic stainless steels such as 1Cr18Ni9Ti in various industries, and can also replace 304, i.e. 0Cr18Ni9, especially recommended for use in Marine environments.
Physical properties: melting point 1371~1398°C
Chemical properties: 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 contains Mo element and its corrosion resistance is higher than 0Cr18Ni9. It has better corrosion resistance at high temperature and has good corrosion resistance to sulfite, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, formaldehyde, chlorine salt, halogen, sulfite and so on.0Cr17Ni12Mo2 has a wide range of applications under high temperature conditions when sulfuric acid concentration is below 15% and above 85%. 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 also has good resistance to chloride corrosion and is commonly used in Marine environments.0Cr17Ni12Mo2 has the tendency of intergranular corrosion, and should not be continuously used in the range of 450~850°C sensitization temperature. 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel with solid solution treatment has better intergranular corrosion resistance.0Cr17Ni12Mo2 can be passivated in low concentration F ion /Cl ion acetic acid medium, and the dense passivated film has a double layer structure. The temperature increase will accelerate the corrosion of 316 in low concentration F ion /Cl ion acetic acid medium, but it can still be passivated at 80°C.
